Ukraine officially took the course for membership in NATO

The Verkhovna Rada supported bill No. 6470, which fixes the foreign policy course of Ukraine, where the priority is to join NATO.

For the corresponding decision at a meeting on Thursday voted 276 people’s deputies.

According to the explanatory note, the new law introduces changes to the laws of Ukraine “On the Basics of Domestic and Foreign Policy” and “On the Fundamentals of National Security of Ukraine”, necessary for joining the Alliance.

According to the authors of the bill, the adoption of this law will promote the expansion and deepening of Ukraine’s cooperation with the North Atlantic Treaty Organization, strengthening of the national security of the country, and will also ensure the guarantee of its sovereignty and territorial integrity.

“The aggression of the Russian Federation against Ukraine, the annexation of part of the Ukrainian territory put before the Ukrainian state the urgent task of real ensuring national security of the country,” explained the need for such a step in Ukraine.
